Making quick Adjustments in Shopify POS without a full stock take

Written on .

Not every inventory change needs a full stock take or inventory count.

In retail, things happen throughout the day that can leave your Shopify inventory slightly off. A product might be damaged on the shop floor, a faulty item might be taken out of circulation, or you might discover that an individual product has been misplaced or written off.

These small adjustments can be easy to ignore, especially when the alternative feels like stopping what you're doing to carry out a stock take.

When you only need to change one or two items

Imagine you're working on the shop floor and a customer accidentally damages a product. You know immediately that it can't be sold, but your Shopify inventory still says you have one available.

You don't need to count the rest of the store to fix that discrepancy. You just need to account for the one damaged item.

With Stock Takes by Pimsical, your team can make these adjustments directly through Shopify POS, meaning the person who discovers the issue can deal with it there and then.

Keeping track of why stock changed

Knowing that your inventory has decreased is useful. Knowing why it decreased is even more valuable.

For example, if your team regularly adjusts stock because of damage or faulty products, recording the reason gives you a clearer picture of what's happening to your inventory.

Over time, those reasons can highlight patterns that might otherwise be difficult to spot which is why we introduced the ability to configure a dropdown list of reasons for staff to choose from each time an adjustment is made.
